Do Something!

The most important thing you can ever do is "something" and not worry about anything!

The pic above was from a morning run where it was hot and humid out. How often do people take a moment and take a shot to reflect on? It was two quick pics, I reflected in the moment, and carried on with my run (headphone free).

I don't know what it is about this world we are living in, but somehow, we have become incredibly "comparative" and not "competitive." There are some amazing people in this world that raise the bar from competition and sharing, but many are doing it from a silo of self gain. If I were to blame anything for this, it would be social media. It's not from the mind sucking content, but the "this is me, I got the likes, I got the attention. What I do is right. And if you don't do it this way, you're wrong and you're telling me I am wrong."

I have been in a few different industries in my life. From cooking, hospitality, to consumer consulting with high level analytics, to collegiate dining services as an Account Manager, Marketing, and Operations Manager, overseeing several managers and large budgets. Currently, for nearly the last 8 years, I have been a Realtor. Why do I say all this? Because they were/are all areas where it takes a team to succeed. We had to rely on sharing info and best practice but with proven results. While the results may have not always been favorable from time to time, we learned from them and applied adjustments and changes as we required.

When we run, bike, swim, lift, or do any form of sport, we have one voice in our head (our own). However, what and who really is that voice? It is from another saying you "need" to do something or look a certain way? That certain products and activities will get you where you want to go? It's unfortunate because this even shows up in my own head quite frequently. When this happens, I slow up, I do something counter to it such as lifting less, running slower, or swimming with a different stroke. And want to know the irony of this? That's exactly the workout we need. Because now we are back in control.

So, if you have an idea of what you think you need in life, tune out the other voices and just start doing something. The best part of this is that you will learn it yourself and not be following (isn't that the true spirit of innovation and imagine innovating yourself)!

And, yes, I see the irony of me telling you how to do something. Make this your last stop and realize it's giving you "the right." The right to be you in your workouts, your results, your outcomes, your look, and more. It's such a great feeling to be you and only you!
