Cozumel and Belonging

It's been nearly 5 years since I did my first (and only) Full Ironman. I also never did a half before then. The only other Triathlon I have done was Olympic distances and only in Chicago.

Why does this matter? Because I believe triathlon is to three core things: 1) Create a learning/building mindset 2) Allow for movement into constant discomfort that strengthen 3) Supports exploration and an open mind to new people, ideas, and interpretations without judgement (small minds attack, healthy minds respect and learn)

In the true spirit of Triathlon (capital T when it's used to signify the mindset of the event), I have began this site. I want anyone and everyone to show up to trithalon. If you never have, just start. Go for a run. Get that bike out. Jump in the water. Watch events on Youtube. Sign up for the super sprints. It's a practice and mindset of progress, regression, success, and failure.

I won't always explain my images but the three (from me) in this post include the bike racks, me pointing at my name, and the hotel we stayed at. Why do these matter? The bike rack is a handful of other people, with better bikes, probably well trained, and will finish better than me. WRONG---everyone is running their own race. Never compare. Why the picture of me pointing at my name? I am the only one that matters. And the hotel? Because I wanted an experience but this one was nearly the cheapest (but I heard it was better than than many others---it was still a Covid world for supply chain shortage and labor).

All this, just get out. Go do it. Swim/Bike/Run and TRI! It won't be perfect nor should it be!

They asked me what my transition times were.

I told her "I didn't care" (because my goal was to just finish)

Believe, and you will.

Cozumel and Belonging

Everyone has the right to be themselves, race their own race, and belong wherever they are, as they are.
